Everyone loves a good date night, but with Covid changing the way everyone did things it's likely that no one has had chance to do a proper date night with their partner. But as some restrictions are lifting we are able to do more and the sun is slowly but surely starting to make an appearance. These summer date ideas will get you excited for summer and to try some new things with your partner.
Go out for a picnic
It's a classic really, but going out for a picnic when the weather is nice is one of the best things to do. You can make it super romantic and bring some wine and sit just as the sun is beginning to set. Or you can go in the day and it'll be really relaxing and a nice time to chill out. All you need is a blanket, good food and some great company.
2. Go and pick fruit
There are plenty of locations out there where you can go fruit picking and summer is the perfect season for it. With plenty of choice such as strawberries, raspberries, blue berries and cherries there is something for everyone. And you can even plan to bake something with your freshly picked fruit when you get home.
3 . Water balloon fight
We all loved a water balloon fight on a hot summer days as a kid so why not get back in touch with your inner child and battle it out in the garden. Grab the super soakers and the water balloons and let the fun begin.
4 . Have a bake off
Maybe you imagine yourself to be the next Mary Berry , but this date idea is perfect for couples who love to be competitive. You can both decide on a recipe and try and see who can bake it the best. Loser tidies the kitchen.
5. Have a mini festival in the garden
With festival cancelled last year and the uncertainty of them taking place this year why not just create your own. Set up the tent in your garden and get some string lights and glow sticks. At least this way you can pick your own line up and listen to anyone you like.
6. TikTok eating challenge
This has been seen on TikTok for a while now but is perfect for couples who are always indecisive on where to eat. To put it simply it is just a game of rock paper scissors and the winner of each round gets to pick your drink, starter ,main and dessert. It is simple but exciting to see what weird combination of a meal you will end up with.
7. Go for a bike ride
Whether you want to do this leisurely or competitively it is a great idea to get some exercise in and take in some great scenery. Why not ride to a part of your area you haven't been before , although this probably isn't the best date idea if you were intending on having a conversation.
8. DIY bar tending
Even though the bars and pubs have opened up now, sometimes it's almost impossible to get a table as they are all booked up. So why not make your own cocktails whether you want to follow recipes to create the classics or why not make up your own. You never know you could create your own new favourite drink.
9 . Visit the beach
As the weather is warming up why not take a trip to beach if there is one local to you. Although it's not quite the same as having a beach holiday abroad, you can imagine you are in a tropical paradise with your partner.
10. Vist a drive in cinema
There are lots of locations that hold drive in cinemas , so why not pick one that is screening your favourite. You can pick all your favourite snacks , bring a blanket and snuggle up with your partner and enjoy.
