Not going out: Valentines 2021 date night ideas...

Updated: May 18, 2021

Date nights are important in any relationship, but in this new Covid world we’re all having to find new ways to do things. We’ve done the zoom quizzes, the awkward FaceTimes and daily walk dates so with February the 14th around the corner you might be a bit short of ideas. But don’t worry, whether you’re celebrating Galentines or you’re locked down with your romantic partner, we’ve got some date night ideas to keep the spark alive…

1) Have a cheese and wine night

Wine and cheese, what’s not to love here. It doesn't have to be expensive, and whether you go for a baked camembert or some classic brie it’s all easy to pick up in your weekly shop. Whack out the candles, play some fancy music and pretend you’re in the South of France (this is going to take some impressive imagination but it’s worth a shot.)

2) Cook together

Whether you decide to make a fancy three course meal or stick to a classic spaghetti bolognese, cooking together is always a nice thing to do in the evening and makes what can seem like a chore into something fun. Plus, there's an extra person to help with the washing up.

3) Order takeaway

If cooking isn’t your thing then why not opt for an easy takeaway. There’s a lot of small restaurants struggling at the moment so why not have a search around your area and find a takeaway option you’ve never tried before, they’ll be bound to thank you for it.

4) Have a games night

Now, remember we’re in lockdown and you’re going to have to live with each other afterwards, so if you’re super competitive it might not be the best time to crack out Monopoly. However, if you can make sure your competitiveness doesn't get the better of you why not have an evening away from phones and screens, playing some classic board games. Monopoly, Scrabble, even Cluedo will provide a great evening's worth of entertainment, and maybe whoever loses can get the takeaway!

5) Try something new

This doesn’t have to mean trying to master a new language or some crazy new skill (lets leave that trend in the first lockdown.) But what about trying something new and relaxing such as yoga, drawing or even just playing a new game together, not only will it be a great binding experience, it’s bound to be hilarious.

Hopefully these ideas provide you with a bit of inspiration for something a bit different to do and bring a bit of excitement back to our lives.

If you get up to any of these ideas feel free to share your date night pictures with us via instagram (perkymagazine) and twitter (@perkymag), we’d love to see them!
